First Anniversary of the Cinema Distraction Blog.

On the first of November 2023 I started posting movie related blogs.

The main reason was I suffer from pretty severe depression and anxiety and I also have numerous physical problems and in the summer of 2023 I had become registered as disabled. I spend a massive amount of time watching and thinking about films and the blog seemed a good way of getting stuff out of my head, It gave me projects to research and I could set myself deadlines for motivation but not having any issues if I missed the same deadlines.

Over the last twelve months I have made something like 179 posts and typed approximately a quarter of a million words.

I have explored the filmographies of many of my favourite film directors and I really enjoyed researching my deep-dive into Hammer Studios even though it did get a bit out of hand.

One thing I have learned since starting this is that I didn't really know what a movie blog was and I don't think I have figured it out... I don't know what it is I do here, it's like a long rambling magazine but it does seem to help me.

It would be nice if what I write would be read by other people but it is not an essential part of the process.

For full transparency since I launched the blog it has been visited 235 times I am guessing those are not unique visits. Although the blog is not setting the world on fire I just wanted to highlight that some people have actually read this! You are!

Looking ahead over the next year I want to get a couple of new logos and somehow streamline posting updates onto social media platforms and get a little more traffic onto the blog.

Hopefully the Belmont Cinema in Aberdeen will reopen and I can build regular visits into my life and my experiences there into the blog.
