My thoughts on "Megalopolis" (2024)

If you are into film and the art of filmmaking and want a visual feast where everything in the production is immaculate... Cinematography, visual effects, costume, makeup, score & casting and if you don't mind a plot that is generally obscure and on occasion goes completely A.W.O.L along with dialogue that drifts between bizarre and pedestrian...

This is the film for you. It really is an experience.

If you go into this expecting standard "Hollywood fodder" you will be confused and disappointed. I went into it expecting an avant-garde sci-fi sociopolitical drama inspired by ancient Rome starring Adam Driver... so I wasn't disappointed.

I am so happy that Coppola got to make his passion project. He has wanted to make this film for 45 years and only got it done by taking $120 million+ out of his Vineyard / Winery business and paying for it himself.

Which I think is quite noble.

There has been many films made for $120m and put into cinemas that don't deserve to touch the hem of Adam Drivers cloke in this.

This film is not for everyone but it is not terrible nor an embarrassment by any stretch of the imagination.
