Supporting Women In Film.

I am just a film fan. Unfortunately, I do not fund motion picture projects or have any influence on swaying public opinion. All I can do is seek out and watch films and try to tell people about them.

One of my goals in 2024 was to increase the number of films I watched that were made by female filmmakers.
My target was to watch 30 films and I actually achieved that goal!

Two of my favourite films of 2024 were directed by women,

Love Lies Bleeding (2024) Directed by Rose Glass &

Wicked Little Letters (2023) Directed by Thea Sharrock.

Some other films that were real highlights were,
The documentary “Crip Camp: A Disability Revolution” (2020)  which was made by Nicole Newnham,
The British film “Scrapper” (2023) which was directed by Charlotte Regan,
The extraordinarily funny “Bottoms” directed by Emma Seligman and the multi, multi award-winning film “Anatomy of a Fall” (2023) which was directed and co-written by
Justine Triet.

I highly recommend all these films.

I also recommend seeking out films made by female filmmakers, stream them, rent them, go to the cinema and see them.

Some truly remarkable filmmakers are women and I can't help but wonder how many don't get the funding and opportunities.

We have probably missed out on so many great films due to the institutional misogyny in the film industry.

It is only through us showing our support and spending money the suits in the film industry will take notice.
