I am just a film fan. Unfortunately, I do not fund motion picture projects or have any influence on swaying public opinion. All I can do is seek out and watch films and try to tell people about them.

These are the best new films I have seen in 2024.Some are 2023 movies but I saw them as soon as I could due to being in Aberdeen Scotland. These are in no particular order.

Now we have reached the 19th of December I feel it is now acceptable to discuss holiday season films.

Peter O'Toole was born on the 2nd of August 1932 in the West Riding of Yorkshire, England.

Ridley Scott has been an A list Hollywood director for as long as I have been alive (45 years). He has directed 29 feature films that have collectively grossed $7,773,100,000.00 in cinema ticket sales.

While researching Scott's career I find it strange that the now legendary failed film project of bringing Frank Herbert's epic novel "Dune" to the screen by eccentric filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky seems to intersect with Ridley Scott's early film career more than once. 

The story of the film "Alien" that we know and love today starts back in the mid 1970's with a young man named Dan O'Bannon.

It should come as no surprise that I am a massive film fan… I am writing this film blog.I am especially fond of the great theatrical experience of seeing a film in the dark with strangers. To a true cinephile, a cinema is like a church. I have amazing memories of going to see films as a child the pomp and circumstance of going to the ticket kiosk for a ticket, then going to the concessions stand and buying fresh warm popcorn then having a staff member check your ticket in the specific auditorium you were going to see the film in and even pointing you to your seat. I also have memories of audiences clapping at the end of films! Am I misremembering? Is that all rose-tinted nostalgia?I don’t know but what I do know is many contemporary film fans find the cinema-going experience underwhelming in 2024.
